Beautifully written, this book is a mediation on women, their bodies and the female journey through medicine. Dr Elinor Cleghorn has a PhD in feminist visual culture and history, and then worked as a researcher of medical humanities for the Ruskin School, Oxford University. Elinor has personal experience of the themes she is writing about - he had her symptoms dismissed as hormonal or all in her head for seven years before a near death experience after the birth of her second child led to a diagnosis of the autoimmune disease lupus.
